Guide to NOT Kitchener

If you're heading out of town (or looking for an excuse to leave), try:

Eateries out of Town

GUELPH

  • Boon Burger
    ALL veggie burgers. Much variety.
  • mijidaa
Literally “let’s eat” in the Ojibway language, a restaurant that “show[s] off our northern bounty.”
  • Crazy Carrot
The recent popular dining choice of “healthy bowls,” but in a nice space with good prices. And check out that name!
  • Zen Garden
    Vegetarian versions of Chinese dishes.

TORONTO

  • Egg Club
The perfectly done egg on such soft, wonderful bread
  • Pie Comission
They sell Bloody Good Pies, both savoury and sweet. Sweet Potato Masala is a definite winner. Best fresh, but they also sell frozen.
  • Uncle Tetsu
Famous for thier Japanese cheesecake. So far, the best cheesecake ever tested. And still, not as good as thier Cheese Tart.
  • Isabella's Mochi Donuts
Right downtown, so far, this place is winning for best donuts in Ontario.
  • Marvellous by Fred
A little French bakery - get a box of meringue partries; so light, they just seem to melt in your mouth.

BURLGINTON / OAKVILLE / Hamilton

  • Sunshine Donuts
Not worth the trip compared to local options, but if you're already there, it's worth the Instagram fodder under the giant pink donut.

Experiences out of town

  • Toronto School of Circus Arts (Toronto @ 401/Allen)
Friday night is drop-in flying trapeze.
  • iFly (Oakville @ QEW/Winston-Churchill)
    Indoor skydiving.
  • Joyride 150 (Markham)
Indoor bike park, with 1.5km XC trail, an a giant foam pit to launch you and your bike into.
  • Activate (Burlington)
Imagine a video game. Except, you are inside of the game. Best done in groups of four, either competitively or co-operatively. You'll be surprised how time flies being inside of these games. Can be both physically and mentally challenging.
  • The Factory (London)
Indoor playplace - for both adults and kits. A giant indoor aerial park with ziplines and vertical terrain, along with trampolines.
  • Pursuit OCR (Etobicoke)
Indoor ninja warrior course - the biggest and baddest we've seen around. Also has drift trick and pedal-powered karts (yes, for adults, too).
